Kickin' sand around the pit
For the first time since George W. Bush was president, "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas was a top 10 single and Bow Wow was generating Oscar buzz in "Roll Bounce," the Rays beat the Indians in Cleveland.
The 18-game losing streak was just another one of those goofy, fluky baseball things that is more of an annoyance than a reason for concern because seriously, what can you really do about it? What made it more irritating than it probably should have been is that the Rays seem to have more than their share of these weird streaks or tendencies.
There's the relatively high frequency of having perfect games and no-hitters thrown at them (which is truly freakish and just downright bizarre), and then the fact that they haven't won on a Friday since May 7. Remember when the streak everyone talked about was how the Rays were undefeated on Saturdays followed by post-game concerts? Those were good times (Thanks for nothing, Smashmouth).
At least this streak is finally over, and leaves the Rays in a position to win the series and finish the road trip 5-4. It would be nice to return home on a positive note: this Friday's opponent is the Yankees.

Perhaps I'm posting this in the wrong spot or it's been discussed and I'm just not aware
but I’m not sure why SBN Tampa (or any SBN site) is linking to and promoting articles that aren’t of their SBN brethren sites. The “Top Five Must Read Articles” in the blue box all contain links to outside publications, when many of the Tampa blogs have articles or stories on the same items.
It would seem better served to cross promote articles within the community rather than send readers outside of the SBN community. I have no idea why when choosing from two articles that state the same thing, it has been decided to go outside of SBN.
I’m even more confused that those who run SBN Tampa aren’t commenting on the other Tampa blogs. This would be a perfect opportunity to increase visibility of all SBN sites (particularly Tampa’s) with good dialogue and commenting across the various sites.
As you can always expect come from behind victory is when you least expect it.
