Eric Brewer Injury Update: Clarification of Injury Even More Confusing Than Original Report

Eric Brewer has not been practicing with the Lightning for a few days now, and the original reports about his injury were extremely vague. Even though we have now had a few days to try and clarify things, the circumstances around the injury seem to be more confusing than ever. According to Damian Cristodero of the St. Petersburg Times, nobody is really willing to say what the nature of the injury is or how long it may affect him.

Brewer said his condition "may or may not" be associated with surgeries he had in December 2008 and April 2009 for a herniated disc. He said last season that he still felt the effects.

If you think that's bad, check out these comments by Guy Boucher, perhaps my favorite way of dealing with an injury ever.

Asked for specifics, Boucher said, "It's a low body (injury), high body or whatever. It's just part of his body."

So what we do know is that Brewer has missed some practices, what we think we know is that it is some swelling that is keeping him off the ice and that it may be related to a surgery he had years ago. Other than that, we're still in the dark. I get the feeling that is how the Lightning want it.
