Lightning Vs. Islanders: Tampa Blown Out By New York, Loses Fifth In A Row

The Tampa Bay Lightning's road woes continued on Tuesday night, as they were blown out by the New York Islanders at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum. Tampa fell behind the Islanders 3-1 after the first period, with New York firing away at Mathieu Garon for three unanswered goals in the final six minutes of the period. The Isles 14 first period shots on Garon were the difference on Tuesday.

Martin St. Louis opened the scoring, giving Tampa Bay a 1-0 lead just seven minutes into the game. That would be it for the Bolts, however, as Al Montoya and Isles defense made sure that Tampa went meekly and quietly in their fifth straight loss.

The Isles added to the two goal lead in the third period, with David Ullstrom beating Garon for the 4-1 lead. Ullstrom was assisted by Josh Bailey for his first goal of the year. As icing on the Isles' cake, Matt Moulson finished it off to make it 5-1 on a power play goal. Steven Stamkos had been sent to the box for cross checking, with frustrations continuing to mount.

Tampa will look to break the losing streak and road struggles when they head into the city to face the Rangers on Thursday night.
