Seminoles Cruise to Victory

Here’s what you need to know. The Seminoles posted at least two touchdowns in each quarter. Within the first five minutes they led 21-0 and rolled along to a 62-10 victory over Charleston Southern using every backup they could get off the bench.

They ran plays to receivers you’ve never heard of just to give it a try. Plays that won’t see the light of day against Oklahoma. Heck, freshman Rashad Greene was the man returning kickoffs and punts (Greg Ried was evidently suspended for violating a team rule), adding to his job as receiver with two receptions totaling 98 yards and 2 TDs.

E.J. Manuel started the game and threw his career best 329 yards before taking his seat mid-third quarter. Clint Trickett again proved his worth as the back up, going 6-7 for 148 yards. The Noles used 12 recievers, including Rodne Smith who led the team with 5 receptions, averaging 15.4 yds per carry.

The running game saw 7 players not a QB run for 182 yards, probably to run the clock down and let everyone go home as soon as possible. Next week is Oklahoma!

Preview: #5 Florida State Seminoles Vs. Charleston Southern

Matchup: #5 Florida State Seminoles Vs. Charleston Southern
Game Time: 6:00 pm
Coverage: ESPN3, ESPN3.com
Staff Prediction: 77-3

For our full game preview and analysis, see Daniel Russell’s work. It’s going to be a doozy. Here’s a brief snippet:

The #5 Florida State Seminoles (1-0) face Charleston Southern (0-1) at home this week. CSU is from the Big South conference and won three games last year, so the Noles are still just practicing.

If the Nole’s week one 34-0 shellacking of Louisiana-Monroe wasn’t enough to whet your chops, the Charleston Southern Buccaneers lost to the UCF Knights 62-0 in their first game last week. If there is a mercy rule in college football, you may see it Saturday.
