Magic fall in Detroit, 112-86

The Detroit Pistons handed the Orlando Magic their fourth consecutive preseason loss Tuesday night, 112-86. DeQuan Jones led all scorers with 22 points, but it wasn't enough to carry the Magic against a Pistons team that pulled away in the second quarter.

Detroit led by just three at the end of the opening period, but jumped out to a double-digit lead after a stagnant start to the second by the Magic. The Pistons outscored Orlando 35-14 in the second quarter, while just edging the Magic by three points in both the first and second quarter.

Rodney Stuckey put up 19 points and five assists for Detroit, while Greg Monroe chipped in 15 points. Four Pistons scored nine.

Gustavo Ayon scored 19 points on eight-of-12 shooting and added 10 rebounds and three assists. Justin Harper and Armon Johnson contributed off the bench for Orlando, scoring 11 and 10 points, respectively.

The Magic take on the Indiana Pacers on Friday at 7 p.m., still without their first preseason win.

Pistons lead Magic at halftime, 62-38

The Detroit Pistons lead the Orlando Magic, 62-38, at halftime of Tuesday night's preseason game. Orlando was competitive through the first quarter, but the Pistons gained momentum in the second.

Detroit led 27-24 after the opening period, but jumped out to an 18-6 run to start the second quarter. The Pistons outscored the Magic 35-14 to gain separatio. Brandon Knight, Rodney Stuckey and Greg Monroe have led the way offensively for Detroit with nine points apiece. Kyle Singler and Will Bynum have each chipped in seven points off the bench.

Gustavo Ayon and DeQuan Jones are the leading scores for Orlando so far. Avon has 11 points, and Jones put in 10. With exception of Justin Harper's four points off the bench, the Magic haven't shown much depth in the first half.

Detroit finished the half shooting 63 percent from the field, compared to the Magic's 42 percent.

Orlando is 0-3 in preseason action, so a win on the road against Detroit would be its first.
