FAU vs. South Alabama 2012 game preview: Owls hope to snap losing streak

John David Mercer-US PRESSWIRE - Presswire

The Owls haven't won a game since August, but FAU is hoping to change that against South Alabama on Saturday.

The Florida Atlantic Owls will look to snap their five-game losing streak when they travel to play South Alabama on Saturday afternoon.

The Owls are 1-5 (0-3) entering Saturday's game. FAU is coming off a 35-14 loss to Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday. Quarterback Graham Wilbert was strong in the outing, completing 26 of 39 passes for 261 yards and a touchdown.

South Alabama (1-5, 0-2) is also looking to snap a four-game losing streak. The Jaguars lost to Arkansas State on Saturday, 36-29. Quarterback Ross Metheny also gave South Alabama a solid performance, throwing for 241 yards and three touchdowns.

Both teams have struggled to produce points this season. South Alabama is averaging 16 points per game, while Florida Atlantic is averaging just 13.2. The Owls are allowing 30 points per game, while the Jaguars are just shy of that at 27.3 points per game.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Saturday in Alabama.
