FAU Owls v. South Alabama Jaguars: Owls lose in 2nd overtime, 37-34

The Owls blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead and fell to the South Alabama Jaguars in overtime, 37-34.

FAU had numerous opportunities to put the game away late, but was unable to capitalize on opportunities to avoid overtime. South Alabama's special teams were an integral part of the Jaguars comeback, with three blocked field goals making the difference late.

With the victory, South Alabama earns its first Sun Belt Conference win of the season, while FAU remains winless against conference competition.

Box Score Hero: Wide receiver Gabe Loper was an integral part of the South Alabama offense on the afternoon, catching four passes for 96 yards and a touchdown.

Rankings Ramifications: With just one win apiece heading into this week, neither FAU nor South Alabama were ranked heading into this weekend. That is most certainly not going to change with the South Alabama win.

But Did They Cover? South Alabama was favored in this game by 4.5 points, so the Owls did keep it within the spread.

Next Week's Schedule: Next weekend, the Owls will host Troy while the Jaguars will travel to Monroe to face ULM.
