San Diego vs. JU 2012 final score: Quarterback Kade Bell injured as Dolphins lose 24-7

The Jacksonville University has seen better days than a 24-7 loss that saw them lose their quarterback, snap a home game winning streak and lose their first Patriot Conference game.

It was a rough day for the Jacksonville Dolphins, as they lost their first conference game, snapped a home winning streak and quarterback Kade Bell to injury in a 24-7 loss against the San Diego Toreros.

Bell injured his knee early in the first quarter after awkwardly going down following an incomplete pass. Dolphins coach Kerwin Bell said he doesn't believe the injury is too serious and should only require a couple weeks off.

Sophomore Trevius Folston took over at quarterback but the Dolphins struggled to gain much meaningful yardage over the first half. They never crossed midfield during the first half.

During that time, the Toreros took a 14-0 lead into halftime and quickly turned that into a 21-0 lead at the start of the second half. Toreros quarterback Mason Mills finished the game 15-for-29 for 217 yards and three touchdowns.

The Dolphins finally got on the board in the third quarter when Folston connected with Andrew Robustelli on a 30-yard touchdown reception, but that would be all the points they would get. Folston finished the day 22-for-44 for 186 yards and a touchdown.

To add insult to injury, the loss to the Toreros snapped the Dolphins' 16-game home winning streak. The last home loss was against Old Dominion on Sept. 19, 2009. The win streak was the longest current streak in the Football Championship Subdivision.
