UCF vs. Memphis 2012 final score: Knights run away with 35-17 victory

Kim Klement-US PRESSWIRE

UCF remained undefeated in C-USA.

The Memphis Tigers were insistent on making it a game against the Central Florida Knights for the first half. The Knights led 14-10 at half but would go to outscore the Tigers 21-7 in the second half to stay undefeated in the conference with a 35-17 win on Saturday.

Running back Latavius Murray finished the game with 192 rushing yards and two touchdowns and quarterback Blake Bortles added another pair of touchdowns to take down the Tigers.

Murray put the Knights up 14-0 in the first quarter off a goal-line run on the first touchdown. The Tigers fumbled on the next drive and the Knights made them pay. Murray broke away for a 83-yard touchdown run to make it 14-0.

The Knights offense would stall in the second quarter, though. All four drives ended with punts as the team could only muster 36 total yards in the quarter. In the meantime, the Tigers were able to cut the lead to four points and went into halftime only trailing 14-10.

The Knights defense clamped down after the break. The Tigers' first two drives resulted in a punt and an interception. Bortles was able to convert points off of the turnover with a 29-yard touchdown pass to J.J. Worton to make it 21-10.

Clayton Geathers forced a fumble and A.J. Bouye recovered it and ran it back 79 yards for a touchdown to safely put the game out of reach at 28-10.

Bortles finished the day 15-for-26 for only 122 yards, but he had two touchdowns. The Tigers finished with 240 rushing yards, but the Knights passing defense held stout and only allowed 121 passing yards.
