The UCF Knights kick off their conference season against East Carolina. Both teams come into the game with two losses overall, but UCF enters as the considerable favorite.
The East Carolina Pirates (3-2, 2-0 CUSA) will travel to Orlando Thursday to take on Central Florida (2-2, 0-0 CUSA). It will be the first conference game for the Knights. East Carolina currently sits atop Conference USA's Eastern division. UCF had conference championship hopes entering the season, and will likely need to win on Saturday to keep those hopes alive.
The Pirates come into Thursday's game following a 28-18 win over UTEP in Week 4. UCF enters following a 21-16 loss to Missouri, though the Knights outgained Missouri 395 yards to 346. They won the first down battle (27-16) and controlled the ball over 33 minutes against the Tigers, but were unable to come away with a win.
The Pirates have struggled running the football and putting points on the board. ECU ranks 104th and 110th in rushing yards and points scored, respectively.
ECU won last year's contest, 38-31, in Greenville.
