A second-half rally by North Florida fell short.

Despite outscoring the Tigers by seven points in the second half, North Florida fell to Memphis, 81-66, for its first loss of the season.

A disastrous first half for North Florida gave Memphis a 47-25 lead at the break. The Ospreys played better in the second half, but it was too little, too late.

In the defeat, North Florida received a strong performance from senior Jerron Granberry, who finished with 17 points.

But the talent for Memphis was too much for North Florida to handle. Tarik Black led the way for the Tigers, finishing with 18 points and seven rebounds in the win.

Among the many places Memphis held a distinct edge was on the glass. The Tigers won the rebounding battle, 45-30.

The game was the first of five straight on the road for North Florida, which will play Savannah State on Wednesday.

Next up for Memphis is a game against Samford on Saturday.
