Orlando falls to 2-5 after a loss to New York

The Orlando Magic couldn't hold their four-point halftime lead and were outscored in the second half 50-36, falling to the New York Knicks 99-89.

The Magic were competitive with the undefeated throughout the Knicks throughout the night, even holding 80-79 lead with 10:34 to go after two Andrew Nicholson free throws. However, the Magic were outscored 20-9 from that point on.

Orlando's biggest issue was turnovers. They were very sloppy with the ball, turning the ball over 20 times to New York's nine.

Orlando had seven players in double figures, led by J.J. Redick's 18 points on seven-of-13 shooting to go along with seven assists and four rebounds.

There was a bright spot for the Magic and that was the play of the 15th overall pick (Maurice Harkless) and the 19th overall pick (Nicholson).

In 19 minutes, Harkless scored 10 points on five-of-seven shooting, grabbed seven rebounds and blocked four shots. Nicholson scored 11 points on four-of-seven shooting in just 10 minutes.

Carmelo Anthony led the Knicks with 25 points of 11-of-22 shooting while J.R. Smith scored 21 points on nine-of-14 shooting off of the bench. Raymond Felton had 21 points on nine-of-23 shooting.

The Magic will be in action again Friday when they travel to the Palace of Auburn Hills to take on the Detroit Pistons.

Jameer Nelson is out again

Magic point guard Jameer Nelson will miss his sixth consecutive game when the Orlando Magic host the New York Knicks Tuesday night, according to Brian Serra of Magic Basketball Online. Nelson has played in just one game this season, a Magic victory over the Denver Nuggets. Nelson had nine points, seven assists and four rebounds in that game.

E'Twaun Moore has started started the last five games. On the year, Moore has averaged 13.5 points per game on 44.6% shooting from the field (50.0% from beyond the arc - #3'Twaun!) while grabbing 4.0 rebounds and dishing out 3.5 assists per game.

Moore appears to be a capable backup, but with Moore starting, Ish Smith has become the backup and that's been nothing short of a disaster. Smith is averaged 0.7 points per game on just 12.5% shooting from the field. He hasn't made a three-pointer on the season and dishing out 2.3 assists and grabbing 2.0 rebounds per game.

The Magic and Knicks will tip off at 7:00 pm EST
