The Hurricanes, Bulls and Seminoles made it a sweep for high-profile Florida college basketball teams.
Miami Hurricanes 73, Jacksonville University Dolphins 57
The Hurricanes bested the Dolphins behind a career-best effort from Shane Larkin, who had 27 points. Julian Gamble contributed 13 while the team as a whole shot 59 percent. Jacksonville couldn't match that, shooting just 40 percent, and Miami pulled away midway through the second half.
Florida St. Seminoles 88, BYU Cougars 70
Okaro White was the man driving the Seminoles in the Coaches vs. Cancer semifinals at the Barclays Center. He had 17 points, six rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Florida State was 11 of 20 on three-pointers, and they held a BYU offense that entered the game with an 80.5 ppg average to just 70. BYU got as close as 7 early in the second half, but a 13-point run (including three from downtown) helped the Seminoles take control.
USF Bulls 78, Maryland-Eastern Shore Hawks 59
The Bulls complete the sweep with their win over the Hawks. Maryland scored first and went up 6-0, but South Florida came back, took the lead and never let go. Toarlyn Fitzpatrick shot 7 of 8 for 16 points for the Bulls, and added six rebounds. Anthony Collins had 13 points including going 4 for 4 at the line, and Shaun Noriega came off the bench to make 3 of 6 three pointers and contribute 11 points in total.
