The Florida Gators and Central Florida Knights came away with wins on Sunday, but Florida A&M and USF were not as fortunate.
Four notable Florida men's basketball programs took the court on Sunday and two of them came away with victories while the other are left wondering what went wrong.
The Florida Gators took care of business by defeating Middle Tennessee State to remain perfect at 3-0 on the young season, putting the Blue Raiders away by the score of 66-45 behind Kenny Boynton's 20 points. Will Yeguete also was a top contributor, scoring 11 points and collecting 13 boards.
While the Gators won in a laugher, the Central Florida Knights squeaked out a 53-50 win over Savannah State, giving the Knights a 3-0 record. After entering halftime with a double-digit lead, the Knights nearly let one get away as the Tigers scored 32 points in the second half.
Despite 24 points from Jamie Adams, the Florida A&M Rattlers were run out of the building by Arizona State, losing by the score of 97-70. Arizona State shot 55% from the floor and 50% from long distance while having five players score double-digit points.
The South Florida Bulls suffered a similar faith, falling to Western Michigan at home by the score of 58-53 after the Bulls went cold in the second half. Shaun Noriega scored 16 points off of the bench for the Bulls.
