Nuggets vs. Magic 2012 results: Orlando wins opener, 102-89

The Orlando Magic won their season opener against the Denver Nuggets, 102-89. However, Orlando lost forward Hedo Turkoglu to a broken hand.

The Orlando Magic won their season opener against the Denver Nuggets, 102-89, Friday night. However, the news wasn't all good for Orlando. Magic forward Hedo Turkoglu left the game with a broken hand.

Turkoglu was injured at the 8:03 mark of the third quarter. On Orlando's previous possession, he led a Magic fast break and scored on a driving layup. It's unclear when he suffered the injury, and at this point, it is unknown when he might be able to return to action.

In the Magic's first regular-season game since trading Dwight Howard, Glen Davis led the way with a double-double. Davis scored 29 points on 13 of 25 shooting and grabbed 10 rebounds. J.J. Redick came off the bench and contributed 21 points, six assists and four rebounds. He was 7 of 11 from the field and connected on 3 of 4 shots from behind the three-point arc.

Danilo Gallinari led Denver with 23 points, eight rebounds and four assists. Ty Lawson added 12 points and dished out seven assists.

The Magic shot 48 percent from the field, compared to just 38 percent by the Nuggets.

Next up for Orlando is a home game against the Phoenix Suns Sunday at 6 p.m. ET. The Nuggets keep their Florida road trip going when they face the Miami Heat Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.
