The New York Knicks made the most of their home opener on Friday night, beating the Miami Heat by 20 points, 104-84. Carmelo Anthony welcomed the crowd and thanked them for coming out in light of the ongoing hurricane recovery, and the Knicks proceeded to put on a show, taking a lead four minutes into the game and never letting up. The Knicks had 19 three-pointers on 36 attempts, repeatedly driving in on Miami before kicking it to the outside.

Anthony led New York in scoring, shooting 10 for 28 including 4 of 8 on threes, picking up 30 points, 10 rebounds and two assists on the night. Steve Novak added another 17 points while going 5 of 8 on threes. In total the Knicks shot 42.9 percent but were 52.8 percent from beyond the line.

LeBron James was the leading scorer for Miami, picking up 23 points while shooting 8 for 16, but Miami's 21 turnovers kept the team from gaining any momentum. Dwyane Wade had 15 points while shooting 7 of 10, and Chris Bosh went 5 of 13 for 12 more. Ray Allen played 27 minutes off the bench but took only five shots, sinking two of them.

The Heat fall to 1-1 with the loss and will face the Denver Nuggets on Saturday. The Knicks open the season 1-0 and have their next game on Sunday against the Philadelphia 76ers.
