The backup running back's season is over thanks to a knee injury.

The Miami Dolphins still have playoff hopes, no matter how slim but need a lot of help from other teams to get to the postseason. They'll have to do it without Reggie Bush's understudy though as running back Daniel Thomas was placed on injured reserve today. Thomas is dealing with a knee injury that will now keep him out for the rest of the season. Defensive back Julian Posey was signed from the practice squad to take Thomas's place on the roster.

Thomas was playing in his second season out of Kansas State for the Dolphins. Thomas had carried the football 91 times for 325 yards this season, including a 69-yard, one touchdown performance against the New York Jets in September. He carried the ball 19 times in that game, tied for the second highest total in his young career. Thomas hit pay dirt four times this season but hadn't seen the end zone since the final game of November against the Seattle Seahawks.

The Dolphins must win to keep their playoff hopes alive against the Buffalo Bills this Sunday.
