The North Florida Ospreys face a significant challenge on Saturday, while the Florida A&M Rattlers face a more even contest.
Saturday's college basketball schedule is sparse when it comes to local Florida action, with just the Florida A&M Rattlers and the North Florida Ospreys in action.
Allen University Yellow Jackets vs. Florida A&M Rattlers
The Rattlers had a rough start to 2012, going 1-6 in their first seven games. Since then they've managed to win two in a row, the first against the Bethune-Cookman Wildcats and the second against Edwin Waters College. Allen is their last game before a stretch of road games that also represent a big step up in competition, including Georgia, Clemson and Texas Tech. Jamie Adams leads the team in scoring, and he and the Rattlers will likely make their best attempt at putting on a show for the home fans before that tough road stretch. Tip-off is 4 p.m. ET.
North Florida Ospreys vs. Pitt Panthers
The Ospreys (3-5) take on a major challenge on Saturday, facing the 8-1 Panthers. The Ospreys are coming off a tough loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers. The Ospreys were in the game early, coming within three points before the end of the first half, but they couldn't sustain the effort and Minnesota ran away with things. If they want a different result against Pitt it'll likely come at the hands of Parker Smith, who leads the team with 17.8 points per game and is shooting 47.8 percent from beyond the arc. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. with television coverage available via ESPN3.
