NHL Trade Deadline: Tampa Bay Lightning Send Dominic Moore To San Jose Sharks

Stay connected for news and updates

In a bid to solidify their playoff position, the San Jose Sharks added forward depth on Thursday by trading for Tampa Bay Lightning center Dominic Moore. The 31-year-old was sent to the Sharks, along with a seventh round pick, for San Jose's second round pick. The Lightning now have three picks in the second round of the 2012 NHL Draft.

The Lightning are 10 points out of a playoff spot and have become sellers at the deadline. Moore's contract expires at the end of the season, so general manager Steve Yzerman was keen to make a deal and get something back for him. He is just one of the players the Lightning are looking to move; the team is holding Pavel Kubina out of practice and games as they attempt to trade him.
