2012 Super Bowl Commercials: Chevrolet Makes Apocalypse Funny

Now that the big game is over and the Giants are planning their celebration, we can look back on the events of Sunday that were really important, the commercials.

My nominee for best advertisement goes to Chevrolet, who somehow makes it seem like their big budget commercial isn't completely over the top. If you can get past the point that you and everyone else you love is dead in this scenario, it's a pretty solid concept. Just ignore the fact that there appears to be plenty of open seats in this guy's car and he chooses to only take his dog.

More importantly, Chevrolet avoids the trap that so many advertisers have fallen into recently, which is just putting as many random celebrities doing odd things in your commercial as the budget allows. There's no Flava Flav randomly appearing in a medieval prison operated by Elton John. Jay Leno isn't swooping in on a jet pack to thwart Jerry Seinfeld. Just a good idea and good execution.
