The NHL trade deadline is coming up and the Lightning have been very noncommittal about what they are going to do. General Manager Steve Yzerman has been very coy with the media, and according to Sean Gentille of the Sporting News, Yzerman says that he will let the market will dictate what the Lightning do moving forward. "The trade market dictates what, if anything, we're going to do," Yzerman told the Tampa Bay Times earlier this week. "At this point there's nothing that makes any sense that is the right thing to do whether it's short or long term." The article goes on to speculate that talks could focus on Ryan Malone, a forward who has drawn interest from other teams around the league at various points over the past couple of years.
