The 2012 NIT tips off on Tuesday evening, with eight games getting underway. The two Florida schools, Miami and Central Florida, will play on the second day of the first round on Wednesday night. The Canes received the No. 2 seed in Region 2 and their main competition to get to Madison Square Garden, No. 1 seed Tennessee, will tip off against Savannah State at 8:00 PM on ESPNU. Marshall and Middle Tennessee State are the other two teams at the top of the bracket, and they are scheduled to tip at 9:15 on Wednesday.

The Knights, meanwhile, will travel to Drexel on Wednesday to face a mid-major that many felt should have made the Big Dance. UCF is the No. 6 seed in Region 3, and if they get past Drexel, they will face the winner of St. Joe's and Northern Iowa, which is also scheduled for Wednesday night. At the top of their bracket is Seton Hall, and the No. 1 seeded Pirates with play Stony Brook at 7:15 on Tuesday.
