After a remarkable four-way playoff, Luke Donald was able to emerge victorious in the 2012 Transitions Championship.
The door opened for Donald and a host of others when then leader Ernie Els went bogey-bogey on the last two holes to finish minus-12. Donald finished with a 72-hole score of minus-13 along with Jim Furyk, Sang-Moon Bae and Robert Garrigus.
Donald was able to clinch the win with an impressive approach on hole 18 during the playoff and got a birdie. Robert Garrigus also had a close birdie put to force another playoff with Donald but could not convert.
This is the fifth win for Donald on the PGA Tour.

The 2012 Transitions Championship is coming nearer to a conclusion, and one golfer, Ernie Els, has emerged with the lead with a very hot round on Sunday.
Els is shooting a minus-6 on the day, and sits at minus-14 for the tournament. He passed Luke Donald and Sang-Moon Bae with a birdie on hole 12. A win today would be his first tournament title since winning the Arnold Palmer Invitational in 2010.
Jim Furyke began the day as the leader, but is now one stroke behind Ells at minus-13. Scott Piercy turned heads shooting a minus-9 today and currently sits at a minus-12 for the tournament. He will need some help, however, if he wants to come home with the title.

Jim Furyk and Retief Goosen find themselves tied atop of the leaderboard after a pair of stellar performances in the third round of the PGA's Transitions Championship. Tomorrow's final round in Palm Harbor is shaping up to be a good one, as there are a number of players within a few shots of the leader who will be looking to make a final round surge.
Furyk, trying to rebound from an awful season in 2011, surged into the lead with a birdie on the par-3 15th hole. He fell back into a tie on the 18th hole with a three-putt bogey up a steep ridge, finishing the day with a 66.
Goosen was able to roll in three straight birdies on the back nine and closed the day with a a 6-under 65. Players chasing Fuyrk and Goosen include San-moon Bae and Jason Dufner at 10-under par, and Ken Duke and John Mallinger two back at 9-under par.
