Phoenix Suns Go On 16-5 Run, Lead Heat At Halftime 53-49

The Phoenix Suns took advantage of an 16-5 run before the close of the first half to draw to capture a lead over the Miami Heat 53-49 at halftime. The Suns are looking to end the Heat's 14 game home winning streak in the American Airlines Arena, and have produced a balanced scoring attack in their effort. Both teams have shot extremely well from the floor, with the Suns shooting 50% and the Heat shooting 58%. Nonetheless, a slew of fouls committed by Dwyane Wade at the end of the half, including a costly technical foul after he thought he was hit on the arm by Shannon Brown.

For the Heat, LeBron James has enjoyed a terrific first half of play. He has 11 points, 5 rebounds, and 5 assists (including 2 steals and 1 block). LeBron always seems to be on the verge of a triple-double at halftime, perhaps he can complete the feat during the second half. Chris Bosh had another productive first quarter, Bosh scored 13 of his 15 points during the period. Dexter Pittman received his first career start with Joel Anthony sidelined, but he struggled with foul trouble for much of the half.

As mentioned the Sun's went with a balanced scoring attack for much of the half. Both Marcin Gortat and Jared Dudley has 9 points, Grant Hill notched 8 points, and Steve Nash 7. The Suns went on a 16-5 run to close the half behind quick, transition offense reminiscent of their days with Coach D'Antoni at the helm.

In a rare turn of events, the Heat have received substantial contributions from their bench players. Udonis Haslem connected on all three of his shots and has 7 points. Norris Cole and James Jones also combined for another 7 points, and even seldom used Eddy Curry got some action with Joel Anthony's injured left ankle.
