Kentucky Vs. Florida, 2012 SEC Semifinals Final Score: Gators Go Down 74-71 To Wildcats

The Gators once again started out aggressive in the second half of the game against the Kentucky Wildcats after surrendering the lead right before the half, taking the lead back in the game. The Gators couldn't hold that lead however, as Kentucky pushed the tempo and was able to pick up some points in transition and force a turnover, taking the lead midway through the second half and a big shift in the momentum of the game.

After Kentucky took a lead, a massive dunk by the Wildcats changed the tone of the game as Florida just seemed to have the life ripped out of them by the jam. Fortunately for Florida, Kentucky went cold shooting the basketball and the Gators were able to go on a bit of a run and get back within two-points after a Brandon Beal shot.

The teams kept it close in the final minute of the game, trading fouls back and forth, but freshman Marquis Teague drilled his free throws late in the game to seal the 74-71 victory and advance to the SEC Championship Game.

Of course at the end... Kentucky fans trolled Florida fans with their mini-Gator chomps.

Kentucky Vs. Florida Score Update: Gators Surrender Lead In Closing Minutes As They Trail 40-39 At Halftime

In the first two match ups between the Kentucky Wildcats and the Florida Gators in the regular season, the Wildcats pounded the Gators both times to the tune of near 20 point victories in both games. In the SEC Tournament Semifinal however, the Gators came out aggressive and put the Wildcats' back against the wall and taking a 10 point lead at one point. Kentucky was able to rally back however and take the lead before halftime 40-39 after trailing the entire first half.

The Wildcats rallied back forcing the Gators to take some bad shots, grabbing the defensive rebounds, and sinking some critical late three-point shots. Anthony Davis leads the Wildcats in scoring at the half with 10 points and 7 rebounds, while Deron Lamb and Marquis Teague picked up nine and eight points respectively.

Despite leading Kentucky the vast majority of the first half, the Gators went scoreless in the last 4:20 of the first half to surrender the lead. Bradley Beal has carried the load for Florida with 12 points and 6 rebounds while Erik Murphy and Patric Young both adding eight points. Florida has taken quite a bit of three-point shots, but with their lack of size they have to, shooting 45.5 percent so far from beyond the arc.

SEC Tournament 2012: Bracket, Schedule And More: Florida Meets Kentucky For A Third Time This Season

The Florida Gators will get their third crack at what many consider to be the heavy favorites to win the 2012 NCAA title on Saturday afternoon. Billy Donovan's club was 0-2 against the No. 1 ranked Kentucky Wildcats this season. The Gators held on against Alabama on Friday, eking out a three-point win in the quarterfinals over the Crimson Tide.

The test will undoubtedly be tougher against Big Blue on Saturday. The Gators lost to the Wildcats by 20 and 15 points this season, as the talent of John Calipari's club overwhelmed UF at times. Florida will get one more shot on Saturday, and a win could be pivotal for improved seeding and potentially a favorable site in the first and second rounds next weekend under the NCAA's pod system.

In the second game of the afternoon, No.7 seeded Ole Miss will square off against No. 3 seeded Vanderbilt, who is playing their best basketball of the season. Andy Kennedy's squad will try to continue their run through the tourney and perhaps extend the season into the Big Dance.

The full SEC schedule below:

Saturday, March 10

No. 1 Kentucky vs. No. 4 Florida, 1 p.m., ABC

No. 3 Vanderbilt vs. No. 7 Ole Miss, 3:30 p.m., ABC

SEC Tournament 2012, Alabama Vs. Florida Final Score: Gators Hold On For 66-63 Win

The Alabama Crimson Tide played very well and challenge the Florida Gators on Friday, but couldn't come up with the big shots that they needed at the very end. Florida defeated Alabama for the second time this season as they predictably relied on their three-point shooting en route to a 66-63 victory.

Alabama did not have a single lead during the game, but got very close to tying the game in the final seconds. With the Tide trailing by two points in the final minute, JaMychal Green drew a foul on Patric Young and got to the free-throw line with a chance to tie the game. He made the first, but missed the second to preserve Florida's lead. Alabama sent Kenny Boynton to the line and he made both foul shots. Trevor Lacey had an excellent look at a three, but came up just short with his shot at the buzzer.

Green was arguably the best player on the floor, as he led all players in scoring and rebounding with 22 and 10. Alabama Won the battle on the boards and shot 53 percent from the floor, but they turned the ball over 10 times to Florida's five turnovers, while the Gators made 10 three-point shots.

SEC Tournament 2012, Alabama Vs. Florida Halftime Score: Gators Lead 26-24

The first half of the SEC Tournament quarterfinal between the Florida Gators and Alabama Crimson Tide hasn't been a particularly fast-paced one, and the Gators aren't shooting the ball particularly well. They're getting to the free throw line more often than the Tide, however, and they're taking plenty of three-point shots as per usual. Florida leads 26-24 at halftime, but they'll need to shoot the ball better in the second half to keep that lead.

So far, this is coming close to being a mirror of the first meeting between the two teams, where Florida won 61-52 while shooting just 40 percent from the floor. Alabama only made half of their free throws in that game and shot poorly from the floor, but they're shooting 50 percent today.

Bradley Beal leads the Gators and all scorers with 12 points, and he also leads all players with six rebounds. Trevor Releford and Levi Randolph are Alabama's joint-leading scorers with seven points each.

SEC Tournament 2012: Bracket, TV Schedule And More

The SEC Tournament finally gets underway on Thursday and features some very good games, and a few not so good games. You will be able to watch all of the games today on ESPN3.

The first game of the day is at 1 pm and features Arkansas and LSU. They should be pretty evenly matched considering they were separated by only one game in both their SEC record and overall records. The winner of this game, unfortunately, gets No. 1 Kentucky on Friday.

Alabama and South Carolina meet in the second game of the day at 3:30 pm. Alabama should be favored heavily in this game because South Carolina finished 10-20 overall and just 2-14 in Conference. The winner of this game gets No. 4 seed Florida on Friday.

After a brief intermission Auburn and Ole Miss get underway at 7:30 pm. This is another game that should be pretty evenly matched, even though that may not be such a good thing. The winner gets No. 2 Tennessee on Friday.

Finally, Georgia and Mississippi State get underway at 10 pm on Thursday. Miss St. should be favored pretty heavily in this one. The winner gets No. 3 Vanderbilt on Friday.
