This has been one of the least controversial fields in NCAA Tournament history, but that still doesn't remove the sting of the Miami hurricanes not making it into the field. But truth be told, the Hurricanes had plenty of chances to make their case, and their exclusion from the tournament is pretty justified.
The Hurricanes failed to win 20 games this season, and they could not have been good for the committee, but their 9-7 ACC record, including a win at Duke was pretty impressive. The nail in their coffin might have been two losses to North Carolina State however. The Wolf Pack were on the bubble as well, and the committee only took one of those lower level ACC teams. Those two losses appear to have sealed their fate.

The Miami Hurricanes will be headed to the NIT after Jim Larranaga's club was left out of the dance.

After landing the No. 12 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the South Florida Bulles will be playing fellow 12 seed Cal in the First Four round in Dayton on Wednesday. The Bulls were on the bubble all week but ended up sneaking in and will have a chance to play their way into a first round matchup against Temple on Friday in Nashville
The Bulls finished the season 20-13 overall and 12-6 in the Big East, good enough for a first round bye in the Big East Conference Tournament. Stan Heath's club took care of business against Villanova in their first game at MSG - a win that likely pushed them into the tourney. They then fell to Notre Dame in overtime in their quarterfinal matchup
Click here for a complete printable bracket.
As you would expect with another First Four team, the Cal Golden Bears had to sweat it out all week on the bubble. Mike Montgomery's club was 24-9 overall and finished second in the Pac 12 at 13-5. They were bounced out of the Pac 12 tourney by eventual champion Colorado in an 11-point semifinal loss in Los Angeles. Along with the automatic qualifying Buffaloes, they are the only Pac 12 teams in the dance. They are led by Allen Crabbe and Jorge Gutierrez on the wings, who both average double figures for Montgomery and will matchup well against the length of USF's backcourt.

After landing the No. 3 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the Florida State Seminoles will be playing 14-seeded St. Bonaventure to kick things off in the first round. The Seminoles earned an automatic berth on Sunday afternoon with an impressive ACC Tournament title win over North Carolina.
The Noles defeated Miami, Duke, and North Carolina in a fantastic three-day run to their first-ever ACC Championship. After a brutal week in Atlanta, Leonard Hamilton's club will get an extra day of rest before facing the Bonnies on Friday.
Click here for a complete printable bracket.
Like FSU, the Bonnies earned an automatic berth with an impressive Atlantic 10 Tournament championship this week in Atlantic City. They are led by legit NBA prospect and Atlantic 10 MVP Andrew Nicholson, who is a monster in the paint. Nicholson is a Canadian import who's a complete player, averaging more than 18 points a game and 8 rebounds per game. Demetrius Conger supports Nicholson, and is averaging more than 12 points per game and coming of a huge A-10 tournament performance, particularly in the semifinals against UMass. While the Seminoles enter the dance with a lot of momentum, their opponent does as well and will present a real challenge on the interior.

After landing the No. 7 seed in the 2012 NCAA Tournament, the Florida Gators will be playing 10-seeded Virginia to kick things off in the first round. The Gators were a lock for an at-large bid from the tournament's selection committee after turning in a 23-10 record during a regular season.
The Gators defeated Alabama in the quarterfinals of the SEC tournament but were bounced out by Kentucky in semifinals in New Orleans. With nearly a full week of rest, the Gators will now begin their postseason march against the Cavaliers.
Click here for a complete printable bracket.
Virginia started the season red-hot but stumbled in ACC play in the month of February. The started the season 14-1 under Tony Bennett but finished with a 22-9 overall record and finished fourth in the ACC with a 9-7 record. They were bounced out of the first round of the ACC tournament, losing to fellow bubble team North Carolina State. The Gators will have to contend with Mike Scott, a monster in the paint who was in the running for ACC Player of the Year. It will be an incredible battle watching Patric Young match up with Scott.

Selection Sunday for the 2012 NCAA Tournament is finally here, but before the official selection committee announces the actual bids and seeding, let's take a look at the projections for some of the local schools from Chris Dobbertean of SB Nation and Blogging The Bracket.
The Florida State Seminoles, playing in Sunday's ACC Championship Game against Duke, are currently projected to be a No. 4 seed, though a win in the ACC title game could bump them up a seed line. The Florida Gators of the SEC are currently slotted as a No. 7 seed, while the South Florida Bulls are one of the "Last Four In", scheduled to face Drexel in a First Four game.

With Selection Sunday 24 hours away, the South Florida Bulls and the Miami Hurricanes will be nervously waiting to see if their name will be 1 of the 68 chosen for this year's NCAA Tournament. SB Nation's resident Bracketologist Chris Dobbertean released his latest bracket earlier today, and it was a mixed bag for the Florida teams sitting on the bubble.
USF remained one of the First Four In, flying up to Dayton to take on the Mississippi State Bulldogs on Tuesday. The winner of that game would head to Albuquerque, NM to face the 4th seed Indiana Hoosiers in the East Regional.
The Hurricanes however fell out of the bracket following their loss to Florida State in the ACC Quarterfinals last night in Atlanta. Dobbertean has Miami as one of the Next Four Out, meaning anywhere from the 5th to 8th team left out of March Madness.
Florida State moved up to a 4 seed in the Midwest Regional after their victory over the Canes, heading to Portland, OR to face the Davidson Wildcats. The Florida Gators moved down to a 7 seed in the South Regional after beating the Alabama Crimson Tide, where they will face Long Beach State in Columbus, OH on Friday.

The Major Conference tournaments are still underway, but the projected brackets are still going through some very interesting, if not unexplainable, permutations. SB Nation just came out with the latest edition of their 2012 Bracketology, and it saw one local team drop a seed for seemingly little reason at all.
Florida State was a No. 4 seed as recent as yesterday, and despite not playing another game, they've dropped to a No. 5. The teams that earned No. 4 seeds in this bracket - Wisconsin, Baylor, UNLV and Temple - haven't had a chance to impress in their Conference tournaments either. Maybe they'll get a win in the ACC tournament and get back up to that No. 4 seed, or higher.

The Major Conference Tournaments are about to get underway, starting with the Big East Tournament on Tuesday. The guys over at SB Nation released one more version of their Bracketology before the games are played this week and the field looks completely different.
South Florida is surging right now as the Big East Tournament nears, but that still wasn't good enough to get securely into the tournament. They still only have a No. 13 seed, and that is probably requisite on a few wins in the Big East Tournament. Of course, they could make a run deep into the tournament and get that seed up much higher.
Here is the complete bracket as it stands right now.
