John Rothstein of CBS Sports Network is reporting that Florida International will name Louisville assistant coach Richard Pitino to be the next head coach at FIU.
Pitino is taking over for the recently fired Isaiah Thomas after he was only able to compile a 26-65 mark over his three seasons with the Golden Panthers.
He is the son of current Louisville coach Rick Pitino. Since beginning his coaching career in 2004, he has been an assistant at Northeastern, Duquese and Florida in-between two stints at Louisville.
