The Miami Dolphins are set to make a big roster move on Monday, releasing 2008 second round pick Phillip Merling.

The Miami Dolphins are getting ready for the NFL Draft later this week, and part of that means cleaning house of some players who could become redundant following some selections this weekend. That apparently includes former second round pick Phillip Merling, whom the Dolphins appear set to release on Monday.

Merling was taken 32nd overall in the 2008 NFL Draft out of Clemson and has been a pretty remarkable disappointment since entering the league. He played in sixteen games in both of his first two years in the NFL and registered just 3.5 sacks over that time. In the last two years however he has only played in 15 games total and didn't account for a single sack.
