For the second day in a row, the Miami Marlins lost a lopsided affair to the Arizona Diamondbacks. Mark Buehrle and the defense behind him struggled en route to a 9-5 loss. That ends a four-game home series in which the Marlins managed just one win.
Three errors, including Omar Infante's second of the season, added four unearned runs to the four earned runs lefty Mark Buehrle surrendered. That staked Arizona to a 7-0 lead in the fifth inning, a day after the Marlins allowed their opponents an eight-run head start.
Left fielder Austin Kearns hit his second home run of the season in the seventh inning, driving in two runs. Donnie Murphy added a 2-run homer in the game. Despite a small rally in the middle of the game that closed the gap to just two runs, the Marlins offense had no answers for the back of the Diamondbacks bullpen.
Arizona knocked around the struggling Heath Bell. The Marlins closer allowed two runs in the final frame.
This was the eighth loss in nine game for the Marlins, who should be battling for the National League East title this season. After Monday's getaway game, the Marlins start a three-game set in San Francisco on Tuesday night.

The Miami Marlins are trying to take two of three games from the Arizona Diamondbacks. If they are going to take the rubber game of this series, they will have to overcome a two-run home run by Diamondbacks third baseman Cody Ransom off of Marlins starting pitcher Mark Buehrle in the top of the second inning. The game currently 2-0 in favor of Arizona in the bottom of the third inning.
The Diamondbacks managed to keep the Marlins off the scoreboard in the first inning when Emilio Bonifacio singled and Hanley Ramirez doubled. Gaby Sanchez was walked by Arizona starting pitcher Patrick Corbin in the bottom of the second, but the Marlins couldn't advance him.
The game is being broadcast on Fox Sports Florida with radio coverage being provided by WAXY 790 and WAQI 710.

Getting just one hit through the first eight innings, the Marlins struggled on both sides of play in their 8-4 loss to the Diamondbacks Sunday afternoon.
After Diamondbacks pitcher Wade Miley held the Marlins without a hit for the first five innings, the Diamondbacks put the game out of reach with a five-run six inning. Jason Kubel and Cody Ransom each had two-run doubles that were the big blow.
Miley ended the day allowing just one hit in 6.1 innings while striking out six. The Marlins finally got on the board when Gincarlo Stanton came through with an RBI groundout.
His mound opponent, Josh Johnson, struggled tremendously, allowing five runs on 10 hits and striking out eight batters in 5.1 innings. Mike Dunn did not help matters in relief, coming in for Johnson and allowing two runs in .2 innings.
The Marlins did make some waves with a three-run ninth inning, highlighted by a three-run home run by Stanton.
The Marlins return to action on Monday afternoon in the fourth and final game of their series with the Diamondbacks.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Wade Miley has had no problems with the Miami Marlins on Sunday, as he has yet to allow a hit through five innings. With the exception of a walk issued to Omar Infante, Miley has been perfect and has struck out five batters. He is at 66 pitches through five innings.
Marlins starter Josh Johnson has struggled, allowing three runs on nine hits and two walks through five innings. His eight strikeouts have been encouraging, but when Diamondbacks batters have connected, it has resulted in base runners.
Arizona broke the scoring open in the second inning today when Gerardo Parra singled home Miley. A pair of RBI singles by Jason Kubel and Miguel Montero in the top of the fifth brought the score to 3-0.

Fresh off a dramatic win that snapped a six-game losing streak, the Miami Marlins (8-12) send Josh Johnson to the hill on Sunday to face the Arizona Diamondbacks (10-11), hoping to build on Saturday night's ninth inning heroics.
Johnson is just 0-2 this season with a 4.63 ERA, but in his career he is 3-1 against the Diamondbacks, striking out 28 batters in 27 innings of work.
Arizona will answer with lefty Wade Miley (2-0, 1.84 ERA) on the bump. Miley has been thrown into the Diamondbacks rotation after an injury to Daniel Hudson. After making bullpen three appearances to begin the year, Miley allowed just two hits and struck out seven in six scoreless innings against the Phillies on Monday.

By all accounts, the Miami Marlins needed a win. After all, they had dropped six games in a row, and during Friday's 5-0 loss to the Arizona, they had just three hits. But that elusive victory came on Saturday -- at last. The Marlins had one run in the seventh inning, one in the eight and then a walk-off single to left field from Hanley Ramirez to score the winning run, culminating in a 3-2 win over the Diamondbacks.
Anibal Sanchez took the hill for Miami, and to a large extent, kept the team in it, lasting seven innings and allowing just two just runs. Most of all, though, he struck out 14 batters, becoming just the third pitcher in the history of the franchise to strike out at least 14 in a single game.
While stopping the team's current losing skid, it also improved Miami's home record to 6-3 at its new Marlins Park.
