Mets Vs. Marlins Recap: Giancarlo Stanton Hits Walk-Off Grand Slam In Wild 8-4 Win

The Miami Marlins have won what was easily the wildest game in the young history of Marlins Ballpark, scoring six runs in the bottom of the ninth to defeat the New York Mets, 8-6. Giancarlo Stanton capped the comeback with a walk-off grand slam.

Lost in craziness were good starts from starters Carlos Zambrano and Jon Niese. The Mets broke the scoring open with two runs in the top of the fourth. The Marlins answered with two runs of their own thanks to a John Buck two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth. Zambrano went seven innings, allowing just one earned run on five hits while striking out seven.

Heath Bell continued to struggle out of the bullpen, allowing two runs in the top of the ninth to give New York a 4-2 lead before the Marlins' heroics took over. His ERA on the year is now at 10.03.

The Marlins' next game is on Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Miami.

Mets Vs. Marlins Recap: Miami Stays Hot With Series Opening Win Against New York

The Miami Marlins defeated the New York Mets on Friday night to open their weekend series at Marlins Park. It was the ninth win in the past ten games for Ozzie Guillen's club, which continues to climb up the NL East standings. They pulled out the 6-5 win over the Mets in dramatic fashion, coming back in the bottom of the 9th and walking off with the one-run victory.

With two outs in the bottom of the 9th, Greg Dobbs knocked in Emilio Bonifacio from second base for the win. Bonifacio had tied it up just two batters earlier when he brought home Giancarlo Stanton to make it 5-5. The Fish scored three runs over the final two innings to continue the streak.

Starter Mark Buerhle scattered eight hits over 6.2 innings pitched to keep Miami in the game. Buerhle struck out three and walked two, lowering his ERA to 2.81. But the Mets blew it open against Edward Mujica to take the two-run lead into the bottom of the 8th before the bats came through in the clutch to salvage the win.

Ricky Nolasco will try to continue the streak in the second game of the series on Saturday night. The Mets will counter with R.A. Dickey.
