Rays Vs. Braves: Tim Hudson Outduels David Price In Series Finale

Tim Hudson held the Tampa Bay Rays to just five hits over 7.2 innings, as the Atlanta Braves picked up a key 2-0 win on Sunday, out-performing Rays starter David Price.

Price held the Braves to just two runs (one earned) in seven innings on just six hits and striking out seven Braves batters, but Hudson was better, allowing just four hits and walking just two.

The Braves' two runs came on a Cody Ross solo home run in the third, and a Jason Heyward RBI single in the sixth. Jonny Venters and Craig Kimbrel combined to get the final four outs of the game. No Rays hitter had more than one hit on the day.

The Rays return home to face the Toronto Blue Jays Monday night at Tropicana Field.

Rays Vs. Braves: David Price Takes Mound Looking For MLB-Leading Seventh Win

Sunday afternoon offers a classic matchup of wily veteran vs young flamethrower on the mound, as Tampa Bay's David Price will take on Tim Hudson of the Braves at Tropicana Field in the final game of the teams' first interleague series of the year.

Price (6-2, 3.10 ERA) is tied with six others for the major league lead in wins. He has been dominant at home, winning all three starts at Tropicana with a minuscule 1.16 ERA.

Hudson (2-1, 3.96) has been impressive since returning from surgery yo repair a herniated disc. The Braves right-hander has allowed two runs or fewer in three of his four starts this season. In his career, Hudson is 7-1 with a 2.71 ERA in 11 starts against Tampa Bay.

Braves Vs. Rays: Tampa Looking To Bounce Back In Interleague Play Against Atlanta

The Tampa Bay Rays' Alex Cobb will most likely get his first start of the season this afternoon on the hill against the Atlanta Braves. Cobb was just recalled in Friday from the Triple-A Durham Bulls and will replace the injured Jeff Niemann who is currently on the DL with fractured right fibula which occurred earlier in the week against the Toronto Blue Jays.

The Rays will be looking to rebound from Friday's 5-3 loss.

On the other side, Randall Delgado will take the hill for the Braves. The right-handed pitcher is currently 2-3 on the season with an ERA of 3.79. After faltering in late April, Delgado has started strong so far in May.

First pitch of Saturday afternoon's game from Tropicana Field will be at 4:10 PM EST.

Braves Vs. Rays Recap: Tampa Opens Interleague With 5-3 Loss To Atlanta

The Tampa Bay Rays dropped their first game of interleague play on Friday night, losing 5-3 to the Braves at Tropicana Field. Atlanta starter Tommy Hanson was solid against the Tampa lineup, scattering six hits and giving up just two runs over seven innings. James Shields struck out eight Braves, but gave up four runs on seven hits and dropped his second game of the season.

The Tampa lineup could not muster a rally against Hanson, scoring one run in both the second and third innings. In the second, it was Elliot Johnson who bunted home Luke Scott to cut the Braves lead in half. One inning later, Scott brought home B.J. Upton on a sacrifice fly that evened things up. But Hanson would settle in from there, and the Braves would come through with a two-run fifth inning to clinch the win.

Alex Cobb will try to even the series on Saturday in his first start of the 2012 season. Cobb, who's taking the place of Jeff Niemann, had a 3.42 ERA in nine games last year. The Brave will put youngster Randall Delgado on the mound.
