Marlins Vs. Indians Final Score: Miami Escapes Cleveland With 5-3 Victory

Despite a late rally by the Cleveland Indians, the Miami Marlins were able to pick up a series win with a 5-3 victory at Progressive Field Sunday afternoon.

The Marlins jumped out to a 2-0 lead early thanks to a Hanley Ramirez RBI groundout in the first and a Gregg Dobbs RBI double in the third. The Indians would get on the board when Jose Lopez singled home Michael Brantley in the bottom of the fifth.

The Marlins broke the game open with three runs in the top of the eighth to make the score 5-1. The Tribe would not go down without a fight, as a Brantley RBI double and Casey Kotchman groundout made the score 5-3 before the Marlins were able to shut the door.

Josh Johnson put in a very good start for the Marlins, pitching seven innings and allowing one run on five hits while striking out four. Gregg Dobbs paced the offense by going 3-for-4. Brett Hayes and Jose Reyes also chimed in with two hits each. Heath Bell got the final two outs to pick up the save.

The Marlins return to action on Monday, as they welcome the Colorado Rockies to Marlins Park.
