The Players at TPC Sawgrass is widely considered the best non-major tournament on the PGA calendar. Who will take it this week?
The Masters is in the rearview mirror and the U.S. Open is still about a month away, which makes this weekend's tournament at TPC Sawgrass the biggest event in this current stretch of tournament's for the PGA Tour. In fact, the PLAYERS is typically considered the biggest non-major on the PGA calendar, so as a result it usually draws one of the best fields we'll see all year.
Tiger Woods is likely the biggest name in the field, but he definitely won't be the highest ranked player. Four of the top five players in the current FedEx Cup standings will be in attendance, with the only exception being Masters Champion Bubba Watson who probably deserves to take the time off. But Hunter Mahan, Rory McIlroy, Phil Mickelson and last week's champion Rickie Fowler will all help populate the field. You can find the complete list of players on the tournament's official website.
