French Open 2012 Results: Nadal, Sharapova Win Easily, Wozniacki Upset On Day 7

The third round of the 2012 French Open wrapped up Saturday with familiar names recording easy victories to advance. Rafael Nadal and Maria Sharapova, the No. 2 seeds on the men's and women's draws, respectively, both won in dominant fashion. Former world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki was less fortunate, losing in three sets to No. 23 Kaia Kanepi of Estonia.

Nadal is vying for a record seventh French Open title, and appears poised to do so. He tore apart Argentina's Eduardo Schwank, 6-1, 6-3, 6-4, to advance Saturday. Nadal defended all four of his opponent's break point opportunities, and scored on 87 percent of his eligible first serves. He will face another Argentinian, No. 13 Juan Monaco, in the fourth round.

Sharapova has been perhaps the most dominant player, man or woman, at this year's tournament. She has yet to lose a set through three rounds, and has given away just five total games. She defeated China's Shuai Peng on Saturday, 6-2, 6-1, losing two games in a single set for the first time at this year's French Open. Sharapova faces Klara Zakopalova of the Czech Republic in the fourth round.

No. 9 Wozniacki was the latest upset victim on the women's draw. Kanepi attacked throughout the match for a 6-1, 6-7 (10), 6-3 victory. She committed 41 unforced errors, but also fired 46 winners at her favored opponent. She was also much more efficient when presented with a break opportunity, going 7-for-14 compared to 4-for-11 for Wozniacki. Kanepi faces the Netherlands' Arantxa Rus in the fourth round.
