Wimbledon 2012 Scores And Results: Andy Murray First British Male To Reach Finals Since 1938, Will Face Roger Federer

Andy Murray now has the hopes of an entire country on his back. In the men's semifinals on Friday afternoon, he earned a hard-fought victory over No. 5 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga of France, 6-3, 6-4, 3-6, 7-5. He becomes the first British male to reach the finals since 1938 and hopes to be the first countryman to win the championship since Fred Perry in 1936.

There have been two British females that have won the Wimbledon championship in the Open Era, Ann Haydon Jones in 1969 and Virginia Wade in 1977.

If Murray is going to win his first grand slam championship, he has a stiff challenge in six-time Wimbledon men's champion Roger Federer, who defeated top seed Novak Djokovic in four sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, 6-3. Murray has lost twice to Federer in grand slam championships, at the 2008 US Open and at the 2010 Australian Open.

The men's final match will be broadcast on ESPN starting at 9 a.m. eastern time.

2012 Wimbledon Scores: Rafael Nadal Stunned By Lukas Rosol

For the first time since 2005, Rafael Nadal has exited a major in the second round. The former Wimbledon champion has been eliminated by Lukas Rosol of the Czech Republic, the No. 100 ranked player in the world. The match was a five-set epic, with Rosol eventually prevailing 6-7, 6-4, 6-4, 2-6, 6-4.

The match was played at Centre Court, which has a retractable roof and lights. When darkness fell upon the stadium before the beginning of the fifth set, the match was delayed to close the roof and turn on the lights so that the match could continue. Rosol, who lost some momentum in a tough fourth set, appeared to benefit from the delay with a fantastic fifth set performance. 11 of his 22 aces came in the final set, as Nadal -- arguably the best returner in the world -- failed to deal with his serve.
