French Open 2012 Results: Rafael Nadal, Maria Sharapova Advance To Quarterfinals With Monday Wins

Andy Murray and Rafael Nadal both won their Monday matches in the 2012 French Open. The wins put them into the quarterfinals, which start on Tuesday from Roland Garros. On the women's side, Maria Sharapova continued her march through the tournament with a win on Monday. No. 4 Petra Kvitova also won.

Murray got a scare in his first set against Richard Gasquet. On the heels of 12 unforced errors, Murray lost the first set before storming back to win 1-6, 6-4, 6-1, 6-2. Nadal had no problems getting around Juan Monaco in three sets.

Sharapova beat Klara Zakopalova, despite losing a second set tiebreaker. Kvitova beat Varvara Lepchenko with ease in two sets.

No. 4 Murray will take on No. 6 David Ferrer in the quarterfinals. Nadal faces fellow Spaniard Nicolas Amalgro in the next round.
