2012 Belmont Stakes: Union Rags Wins Third Leg Of The Triple Crown

The 144th running of the Belmont Stakes came down to an exciting finish as Union Rags scored a late, come from behind victory to take the third leg of the Triple Crown race series. Union Rags was a 6/1 odds on favorite to win.

Paynter, running at 8/1 odds to win, held the lead for most of the race but Union Rags was able to overtake him in the last 300 yards of the race, riding the rail on the inside to edge Paynter for the victory.

The official results of the 144th Belmont Stakes was as follows:

Win - Union Rags (6/1)

Place - Paynter (8/1)

Show - Atigun (30/1)
