The Tampa Bay Rays and the Seattle Mariners decided that nine innings weren't enough on Friday night to decide their baseball game, instead opting to play a 14-inning marathon. The Rays took an early 2-1 lead in the sixth inning, which was quickly surrendered by the Mariners at their next at bat. Carlos Peguero hit a two-run shot to right field to give the Mariners a 3-2 lead.
In the bottom of the same inning however, the Rays were able to tie the game on a B.J. Upton infield single. The Rays held the tie through the ninth inning, but weren't able to plate a run to end the game until Ben Zobrist's double to right field in the bottom of the 14th inning.
