Marlins Vs. Padres: Miami Snaps Three-Game Skid With 4-2 Win

Stay connected for news and updates

For now, the Miami Marlins, who had scored three runs of fewer in nine consecutive games, stopped the bleeding. Losers of three straight, Miami topped the visiting San Diego Padres on Saturday night at Marlins Park by a final score of 4-2.

It didn't take much. An RBI single from Carlos Lee in the first inning and a two-run homer from Jose Reyes gave the Marlins an early 3-0 lead they wouldn't relinquish. Later, Justin Ruggiano would add a solo home run of his own to cushion the lead.

Making his Miami debut, starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi lasted five and one-third innings, striking out five and giving up just one run, to record his second win of the season.
