Jalapeno 250 Results: Kurt Busch Wins 5th Nationwide Start

Kurt Busch won a wild Subway Jalapeno 250 Friday night at Daytona International Speedway, crossing the finish line as Austin Dillon was turned sideways and wrecked in the tri-oval. Ricky Stenhouse Jr. came in second and made a strong push toward the finish line, but it wasn't enough to take the victory from Busch.

Michael Annett, who was pushing Dillon during a green-white-checkered-flag finish that took the race one lap beyond its scheduled distance of 100 laps, came in third place.

Joey Logano and series leader Elliott Sadler took fifth and sixth place, respectively. With the victory, Busch picked up his fifth in 23 Nationwide starts.

Danica Patrick was collected late in the race, but led 14 laps and escaped one major wreck before that.

Coke Zero 400 Weather: 'Typical' Florida Weather Expected

During night races, the heat is generally something that isn't worried about by many. With a 7:30 p.m. start time in Saturday's Coke Zero 400 at Daytona, the sun will likely not be too much of a factor. According to SB Nation's NASCAR weather expert, Brian Neudorff, most fans should expect "typical" Florida weather on Saturday.

When I say "typical" Florida weather, what I mean is mostly-to-partly-sunny days, hot with highs near 90 and humid. If you've ever been to Florida in the summer, then you know a spot shower or storm is likely at anytime during the afternoon. These storms leave as quickly as they form and are more miss than hit.

In Neudorff's weather report for the Coke Zero 400, he predicts that the temperature at the track will mostly be between 80-90 for the duration of the race.

Coke Zero 400: Denny Hamlin Suffering From Back Injury

Denny Hamlin plans on running in the Coke Zero 400 and for the rest of the NASCAR Sprint Cup series, but he's currently being slowed down by a back injury that is affecting his preparation for Saturday night's race at Daytona Motor Speedway. Hamlin had to sit out of Thursday's Sprint Cup practice because of the injury, and will also sit out of Friday's Nationwide Series race.

"My hope was to run the Nationwide Series race Friday night, but I woke up with a sore back earlier this week and feel it's in the best interest of the team to sit it out," Hamlin said in a statement released by the team. "Luckily it's nothing serious and the extra rest will help me on Saturday night."

Hamlin currently sits in fifth place in the Sprint Cup standings and he's had recent success at Daytona as well. He finished fourth at the Daytona 500, and has a career-best finish of third at Daytona races.
