On a night when the Miami Marlins were trying to escape last place in the NL East, they couldn't even score a run.
The Philadelphia Phillies shut out Ozzie Guillen's club, 4-0, behind the superb pitching of Cole Hamels. The southpaw pitched a complete game, allowing just seven hits and a walk while striking out five.
Hamels only threw 28 balls compared to 85 strikes, getting ahead 24 of 33 times on the first pitch to batters.
Nate Eovaldi was decent, but not good enough. The youngster was tagged for three runs (two earned) in five innings while surrendering eight hits and three free passes.
On Tuesday, Josh Johnson takes the mound in an effort to turn the tide for Miami.
