After losing the first of a three-game set to the Philadelphia Phillies, the Miami Marlins will try to even it up on Tuesday with Josh Johnson on the mound.
With the Marlins in danger of becoming the NL East long-term cellar dweller for the year, Johnson is charged with turning the tide against the Philadelphia Phillies. The 28-year-old is 7-8 with a 3.88 ERA, certainly respectable but not the dominant starter Miami was hoping for this campaign.
Johnson took the loss in his last start which came against the New York Mets. The right-hander only went six innings while allowing three runs, eight hits and two walks.
Opposing him will be Kyle Kendrick, who has had a tough struggle all year. The reliever-turned-starter is 4-9 with a ballooned ERA of 4.86 and a high 1.49 WHIP. In his last appearance, Kendrick only lasted 3.1 frames against the Atlanta Braves, who touched him up for six runs on seven hits.
In his only start against the Marlins back on June 1, Kendrick pitched well surrendering just two runs in 5.1 innings.
