Mariners Felix Hernandez has pitched a perfect game through seven innings against the Rays.
The Seattle Mariners and Tampa Bay Rays are in a pitching duel this afternoon, and so far through seven innings Mariners starter Felix Hernandez has pitched a perfect game. Hernandez has struck out seven Rays batters during his seven innings of action.
Rays manager Joe Maddon was tossed during the top of the seventh inning due to arguing with the umpires over balls and strikes while Matt Joyce was at the plate. Getting ejected may have been a tactic to try to get Hernandez thrown off of his rhythm.
Even with Hernandez's great outing the Rays are still in this game as Jeremy Hellickson has allowed only one run on five hits to keep them in the game. The one run came in the third inning.
