The Central Florida Knights' football and basketball programs have been slapped with NCAA sanctions for recruiting violations that include a $50,000 fine, a one-year postseason ban and reduced scholarship numbers. The Knights have already decided to accept all penalties, but they are appealing the postseason football ban. Now the school has filed a request for the NCAA to expedite their ban appeal:

"This is the correct decision for our student-athletes, athletics program and university," UCF spokesman Grant Heston said in a statement to the AP. "We have cooperated with and respect the NCAA, but believe the football postseason ban is not appropriate."

The school wants the NCAA's decision on the postseason ban to be concluded by the end of the 2012 season. If the appeal process lasts beyond this football season and UCF's appeal is denied, the school will then have to serve the postseason ban in 2013.
