Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is open to a trade following comments made by owner Shad Khan.
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Maurice Jones-Drew is open to being traded, according to a report from Adam Schefter of ESPN.
Jones-Drew has held out of Jaguars training camp in search of a new contract, but Jacksonville's front office has been adamant in its insistence that the All-Pro running back honor the final two years of the deal he signed in 2009. Tensions escalated earlier Tuesday when new Jaguars owner Shad Khan bluntly told Jones-Drew that the "train is leaving the station. Run, get on it."
Jones-Drew's agent, Adisa Bakari, quickly responded to Khan's remarks. From Mark Long of the Associated Press:
"Obviously he's not happy that what started as a very cordial and private conversation is now public and contentious. Maurice wants to play for an organization that wants him and for an owner that respects him & values what he brings to a team on the field, in the locker room and in the community."
