Florida Panthers Rookie Camp Cancelled

Stay connected for news and updates

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Florida Panthers were two of the teams set to play in the Panthers rookie camp tournament that would begin on September 15.

Unfortunately, that's also the date that the NHL has decided to lock out the players if a new CBA has not been ratified. The good folks at Raw Charge, SB Nation's Lightning blog, aren't encouraged by what this means:

So, the Panthers decided to nix the camp this season. Consider it the first of what could be many casualties of the ongoing and unsettled labor dispute. I don't even want to think about what will be nixed next. I do know that the lingering issue is ruining my revelry in the 20th Anniversary season for the Lightning, which the team has been promoting since the 2012 NHL draft.
