Orlando Magic Hire James Borrego

New Orleans assistant coach James Borrego has been hired by the Orlando Magic to the same position according to a report from John Reid of The Times-Picayune.

Borrego has spent the past nine years in the NBA as an assistant coach, with the last two in New Orleans under the tutelage of Monty Williams. Before that, Borrego moved up the ranks from assistant video coordinator to assistant coach with Greg Popavich with the San Antonio Spurs.

Before moving to the NBA, Borrego spent two years at the University of San Diego as an assistant coach.

Borrego is the second assistant hired by new head coach Jacque Vaughn joining former Houston Rockets assistant Brent Gunning who was hired on Aug 14.
