2012 NFL Football Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony: Cortez Kennedy Enshrined On Saturday Night

The 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place on Saturday evening in Canton, Ohio, and former University of Miami great and Seattle Seahawks standout Cortez Kennedy was one of six men to receive Hall of Fame gold jackets and enshrinement busts. Kennedy gave a lengthy induction speech, and made time to highlight Coach Randy Shannon's influence on the defensive lineman while at The U:

If it wasn't for Coach Shannon I would not be here today. Coach Shannon and a lot of people said, "Cortez, you did it on your own." I did a lot on my own, but coach Shannon taught me how to work. He stayed in my apartment during training camp and would train me the whole summer. Randy Shannon slept on my floor in my apartment. I would get up at three in the morning and try to sneak in the refrigerator and get something to eat and Randy would say, "Tez, get out of there." I said, ‘Randy, do you ever go to sleep?'

Kennedy was joined in the 2012 class by cornerback Jack Butler, center Dermontti Dawson, running back Curtis Martin, defensive lineman Chris Doleman and offensive lineman Willie Roaf.

2012 NFL Football Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony: Time, TV Schedule And More

The 2012 Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday night in Canton, Ohio, with former Miami Hurricane standout Cortez Kennedy one of the six players being honored.

An All-American defensive tackle at Miami, Kennedy was the third overall selection by the Seattle Seahawks in the 1990 NFL Draft. He made the Pro Bowl eight times in 11 season with Seattle, and was named the 1992 Defensive Player of the Year despite the Seahawks enduring a 2-14 season.

Kennedy will be joined in receiving a gold Hall of Fame jacket by cornerback Jack Butler, center Dermontti Dawson, running back Curtis Martin, defensive lineman Chris Doleman and offensive lineman Willie Roaf.
