NFL Cuts: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Release Cody Grimm

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have cut safety Cody Grimm according to a report from Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times.

Grimm has had a pretty poor preseason for the Buccaneers, but seemed like a decent bet to make the 53-man final roster. Grimm showed some promise during his rookie season in 2010 where he made nine starts and recorded 57 tackles and two interceptions, returning one for a touchdown, but injuries cut short his 2011 campaign before it really began.

Grimm played in just three games, starting all of them, last year before he was placed on injured reserve with a torn ACL. Grimm recorded 11 tackles in his shortened season.

With Grimm gone, the Bucaneers have only three safeties on the roster in Ronde Barber, Ahmad Black and first-round draft pick Mark Barron.
