Paige Railey of Clearwater, Fl., finished sixth in the women's laser radial sailing event, while China won the gold medal.
China added another gold medal to its overall lead in the medal count at the 2012 Summer Olympics on Monday. Xu Lijia of China won the gold medal in the women's laser radial sailing event. She beat out Paige Railey of Clearwater, FL, who finished in sixth place.
Xu won in spite of having to a penalty turn on the first leg of the race. She was penalized for rocking her boat, too the penalty turn and then quickly opened up a lead on the field in the Nothe Course on Weymouth Bay. Xu won the bronze medal in the laser radial event at the Beijing games.
Marit Bouwmeester of the Netherlands won the silver medal, and Evi Van Acker from Germany took home the bronze.
